Options: Client Settings

You can program what Users can do with your Microsoft Access database. Before sharing this mighty database, you should review the options in the Client Settings. These settings include:

Editing

Display

Printing

General

Advanced

4. Try it: Edit the Advanced Options

Go to File->Options->Client Settings.

Scroll down to Advanced.

Default open mode: Shared.
Shared allows many users to open the database. Exclusive restricts the database to one user.

Default record locking: No locks.
If you lock All Records, then the data cannot be updated, only reviewed.

Record-Level Locking
By default, Microsoft Access locks the record someone is editing so that two users cannot change the same record at the same time.
