Sample of a Property Sheet for a Form. The Record Source is selected

Name Objects Consistently

Name Objects Consistently: Use a naming strategy that includes the Object.

Why Does This Matter? When you review the Record Source in the Property Sheet, you will discover to your dismay that the Objects are not sorted and identified as Tables or Queries.

If you use a consistent naming strategy when you name the Tables and Queries it will be very easy to identify what type of Object (Table or Query) it is in the Property Sheet.

The same method should be used when you name the Primary Key. It should include the name of the Table it goes with. In our lessons we will rename the Primary Key in the Rating Table from ID to RatingID.

The Computer Mama Also Sez: Using the default, ID, for all of the Primary Keys is like naming all of your sons "Dave."
