Outline Functions: Subtotal is an excellent
Outline tool. It allows you to show or hide the data depending
on what you want to see. Another Outline function you could try is
Group. Group creates an Outline on the left side of the
spreadsheet, however it does not calculate the totals.
1. Try it: Group the Rows
Go to the Monthly Sales sheet.
Select Rows 2 and 3 (The data for January).
Go to
Data ->
Outline->Group.
Click on Group.
2. What Do You See? The two rows will be
grouped together. There should be an outline on the left side of
your spreadsheet.
Done and done. Data ->
Outline->Group->Group
