Sharing Data and Working
Together
My mentor, Fr. Paul, talked about
an old church where the sisters kept
all of the vital records on index cards for over 40 years: thousands of births,
deaths, marriages and family details. The records were stored in boxes
and trunks in the basement of the rectory. Who could ever find anything
in
those boxes and boxes of index cards? How could anyone ever connect the names and the families?
Information is
vital to a community as well as a company. However, people need a way to
access and use that data. Otherwise it is just noise. This lesson looks at the
options for sharing and collaborating.
