Rows and Columns

Excel has columns, rows and cells. By definition, columns are vertical, rows are horizontal.

 

1. Try It: Select a Column

Click on the letter A above the first column to select the entire column. Click on the C Column header. Now you’ve selected Column C.

2. Try It: Select a Row

Click on the number 1 in the upper left corner. This is the Row selector. Now you’ve selected all of Row 1.
