Create a General Ledger

1. Try This: Enter the Labels

Let’s begin by putting in the labels for a checkbook ledger. Enter the following:
In Cell A1: Check Number
In Cell B1: Date
In Cell C1: Description

In Cell D1: Check
In Cell E1: Deposit
In Cell F1: Balance

Select Row 1 and make the labels bold.

Go to Home -> Bold.

2. Try This, Too: Format the Numbers

Select Column B.

Go to Home ->Number.

Click on Short Date.

Select Columns D, E and F,

Go to Home ->Number.

Click on Accounting.

 

Resize the Columns to fit the data.
