Exam 77-887: Microsoft Word Expert 2010

3. Tracking and Referencing Documents

3.1. Review, compare, and combine documents: Show Source Documents

Master Documents

Large documents can be difficult to compare, edit and merge. It is easier to create each chapter or section as a separate document, and then combine them into one Master Document.  Master Documents combine several files, or Subdocuments into one file. Master Documents simplify the task of getting the page numbers right for the different sections.

A Master Document can be created in the Outline View.

1. Try it: View the Outline

Open a new, blank document in Word.

Go to View ->Document View->Outline.

What Do You See? There is a new Outlining Ribbon. Keep going...
