Microsoft Word includes a 20,000 word dictionary. The word processor compares your typing to the words listed in the dictionary. If Word cannot find a match, you will see a red, wavy line.

Try it: Correct a spelling mistake

Type in the word: Miichigan

Place your cursor between the two "i's" and backspace or delete the extra letter.

After you correct the spelling, the red wavy line for the Spell Checker will disappear.
