Invalid Merge Fields

When you change the record source and choose a different Recipient List, Microsoft Word will check your document for potential problems.

 

4. What Do You See? Word compares your Mail Merge Fields with your new Recipient List. If there is a problem, Word will notify you with a little window. This dialogue box asks if you want to remove the Merge field from you document or replace it.
